For me it is definitely the type of music that determines which type of voice I prefer. More than that, it is also the individual voice and the type of music. So I'd have to say I'm a 50-50 kind of guy regarding this.

While I did vote 'female', I have to say that it also depends on the music that they are working with. I've heard so many different types of music in my life, that a skilled singer of either gender can evoke the emotional responses that make it enjoyable. Thus why I've despaired when I hear all these auto-tune 'artists' who have neither the pipes, nor the talent to be truly good.

It depends on the song but I'm more likely to tune into a female singer than a male if I am sad and the opposite if I'm hyped.
