QUOTE (From the site)
We are Roman Catholic theologians who firmly believe that the discussion on women priests should be left open.

We love our family, the Catholic Church. We fully accept the authority of the Pope. We respect his personal integrity as an outstanding spiritual leader. But we are convinced that the Pope and his advisors in Rome are making a serious mistake by dismissing women as priests. We feel obliged in conscience to make our carefully considered reasons known. "All the faithful, both clerical and lay, should be accorded a lawful freedom of inquiry, freedom of thought and freedom of expression" Gaudium et Spes, no 62.

Priests Women

I recently heard someone say that the Catholic church is the worst in terms of dealing with current issues. They are so far behind that just recently the Pope visited Russia to apologize for actions against them enacted back in the 1300's. It of course was said for humor value, but the concept stuck with me. Catholicism has done very little to co-exist in the world as it is today. Not that it is obligated to, but it would be nice to revisit certain issues, such as women priests. Personally, I don't think women priests should be allowed, for the same reasons I described in a similar thread here dealing with women as religious leaders. However, the issue should still be discussed, instead of ignored. I applaud this group for attempting to reach out to the Catholic leaders, but I think it will be a long time, if ever, before their aspirations become reality.
