As long as this equipment is used properly I see no issue here. The way police are being targeted they need all the help they can get.

With some of the attacks that people are putting on some of the bigger city police forces I can see them using military grade equipment. Some times they are the front line of defense here in the States. Giving them equipment they can use to help protect themselves better.
