Yes, I be thinking for this one with my Ras still in place... looking at D' way commercials are presented in T&T one has to ask what are they really selling? In other words is the focus on the product or the woman, the service or the fete? Does everything have to be associated with fun and party to be an inncentive? Also, me ah thinking that there should be things like 'buy one and get one free' or other special offers like they have in the US. What be your true thoughts?
Rasta, what you are talking about doesnt only happen in T&T, it happens here in the US as well, and many other countries. European countries are notorious for their sexually explicit commercials. Asian countries also. The bottom line is that sex and fun sells, and so it will always be used as a marketing technique.
Yes, sex sells, but I think the point Rasta is making is concerning the 'level' of it. FOr instance most commercials seem to focus on the 'ragga' kind of crowd, so they are cheap and not well made. As for offers, I think in recent years it has improved, especially with all the competition out there, but still not enough - it lacks especially in the food industry and seems to only be given for furniture .
I guess I havent seen T&T television and commercials in 10 years so I can't make a good comparison of how it adds up to commercials here in the US. I will say that everything is a deal here in the US. If a company can't offer incentives or deals on a regular basis then they are doomed.
