Hi Hightower its almost just like the old play by mail but a lot faster now that there is the internet and all. I never played the mail version but read up on it and the principle is the same. Just ask questions if you like need help getting around.

I`m sure that I`ll have a few questions down the line (eg: where did all these new character classes come from? - I was an early 2nd edition player, we used a 1st edition monsters compendium from a friends older brother, our first adventure was Arena of Thyatus played down in the library), now I`m off to look over the character generation which will take a wee bit longer than I thought it would

They play 3.5 edition rules which has more characters than the first edition did. If you want something with less on dice rolls and more on the adventure then you should join us in WOE. There are just three classes and the rules are probably like D&D basic but its not a D&D game its JB's custom stuff but its totally cool.

There is a full manual for the D&D rules we play in the same place the generator is: Source 6 I'm new to this edition as well so the manual helped me a lot. The only active D&D game now is D&D Tal'garoth in the member wars board but I agree with play by post if you can get in World of Medieval go for it because its more interesting and active. Wish I could be there myself
