These bombings are becoming as popular as the ones in Israel. I seriously wonder if it is actually people from Iraq doing this or outsiders. You would have to be really stupid to blowup or attack the red cross! The people who conduct these things are what I would refer to the 'evil of the evil'. They care nothing and will do everything just to make a point.

DOZENS DIE IN BAGHDAD BOMBINGS
Suicide bombers who drove carloads of explosives into five buildings around the
capital on Monday killed at least 34 people and injured more than 200 in a
coordinated assault that spread mayhem across the city and appeared to open a
new phase in the guerrilla war against the U.S. occupation.

RED CROSS SAYS IT WILL DETERMINE WHETHER IT IS TOO DANGEROUS TO STAY IN IRAQ
The international Red Cross said today it will decide on its own whether it is
too dangerous to stay in Iraq, regardless of pressure from the United States to
stay put.

I am very oncerned about the outcome of this, if any. This is a new kind of warfare, the invisible enemy - he has no uniform and no face.

Well, well, even the UN has given up and they are leaving. Let's change the thread to ask this new question:

Where do you see Iraq a year from now?

Well LDS, you may not be able to see Iraq a month from now, but the US sure sees it even 10 years down the road. Now the US Budget Office is seeing the US being in place in Iraq with up to 50,000 troops right up to year 2013!!

Yea, NOT a day longer than necessary. Sigh*!

Since there is almost NO reporting of what is actually happening in Iraq, I thought y'all might find this interesting:

We all know that journalists have a bad-news bias: 10,000 schools being rehabbed isn't news; one school blowing up is a weeklong feeding frenzy. And some of us who have spent time recently in Iraq--I was an embedded reporter during the war--have been puzzled by the postwar news and media imagery, which is much more negative than what many individuals involved in reconstructing Iraq have been telling us. Well, finally we have some evidence of where the truth may lie. Working with Zogby International survey researchers, The American Enterprise magazine has conducted the first scientific poll of the Iraqi public. Given the state of the country, this was not easy.

........

? Our interviewers inquired whether Iraq should have an Islamic government, or instead let all people practice their own religion. Only 33% want an Islamic government; a solid 60% say no. A vital detail: Shiites (whom Western reporters frequently portray as self-flagellating maniacs) are least receptive to the idea of an Islamic government, saying no by 66% to 27%. It is only among the minority Sunnis that there is interest in a religious state, and they are split evenly on the question.

There is a lot more.  I just posted a single point that this article covered.

The website is also a real eye-opener, as it discusses a lot about Iraq that most people don't know, such as the fact that there are about 1.5 million Assyrian Christians, who descend from even further back than the Arabs in the region, yet they are never mentioned in the US.

As part of local history I know some that fled to Trinidad to escape religious persecution.

Previously I asked how long this war would last and it seems that Pres. Bush gave me the answer... The White House said Friday that U.S. troops would remain in Iraq until Saddam Hussein is killed or captured.

Or until a change in the presidency which may come sooner than Bush is thinking.
