The threat to American Security are rogue states like North Korea, China, Russian maffias, post dictatorship Pakistan, Iraq never was.

1.5 billion moslems will never be your friend.

And you just writing off all the people you killed as necessary to make Iraq Democratic.

Iraq War Post

Brainwashed response:

1. I agree the states you mentioned are also threats, however I'm going to maintain that Iraq was as well. It's not as if the U.S. was the only nation interested in their disarmament.

2. I've never sought the friendship 1.5 billion muslims.

3. I've never killed anyone, and I certainly didn't mean to make it seem as if civilian deaths were justified in the creation of a democratic republic. My point on that is merely that people shooting at coalition soldiers are pretty much up a creek without a paddle. Those deaths (the ones who wish to fight... for what? for hatred of the Coalition?), I think THOSE are justified and only strengthen the Normal:West-Hating Terrorist ratio in the region.

4. I'm still waiting with baited breath on any background info on: "Throughout that time one million Iraqi children were killed through sanctions, hundreds of thousand of Iraqi civilians through aerial bombing." We're talking a minimum of 1.2 million deaths there (one million plus "hundreds of thousand" [min. 200,000?]) - please link.

5. I'd also love to hear what your plan on disarming and/or dealing with a nation like Iraq would have been. What would you have done differently?

Nice blog - still looking through it,

Some figures - not to retort, but just to post:

"U.N. estimate U.N. sanctions lead to 1mil dead (more than half children).
International Embargo
According to the 21 March 1998 Times Union (Albany), the UN Food and Agriculture Organization estimated that 1,000,000 Iraqis, incl. 560,000 children, died as a result of malnutrition and disease caused by the international embargo imposed following the invasion of Kuwait. The article mentions the use of these numbers by an official of the United Church of Christ, and also labels the figures "commonly used -- but also disputed". " - There's your 1 mil dead there.

Aerial Bombings:
https://www.iraqbodycount.net/database/

Sites between 24K and 28K dead from U.S.-led military action from Jan 03 to current. Not all civilians for certain, and certainly not by U.S. action.

Other sources:
I'm having a lot of trouble finding statistics of civilian Iraqi dead from U.S. action since the Persian Gulf War (1990-present - heck, even finding total bombing stats here is baffling me).

I emphasize civilian, 'cause total iraqi deaths according to several sources (U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency, Compton's, World Political Almanac 3rd Edition) are stating numbers between 100-150K. Bear in mind that's including enemy combatants, as well. Civilian-only estimates are a bit lower, and don't include "aerial bombing only" categories.

Great chatting with you. How do you like Europe? Thanks for the blog link, again - good stuff.

Class act all around to you as well, fella,

1. I wish more people'd be up here throwing their beliefs out there.

2. When you get a chance, tell me what you think of the U.S. Libertarian Party's "Exit Strategy for Iraq":

https://www.lp.org/exitplan.pdf - requires most current Adobe Acrobat Reader (56K - be wary)

FYI - Long read for anyone willing to give it a try, but before you "TL;DR" me, give it a try if you're interested at all in Iraq, U.S. Policy, or the Libertarian Party.

EDITORIAL: THE U.N.'S NEED FOR REVOLUTION

An independent analysis of the United Nations' oil-for-food scandal has determined that rampant mismanagement allowed the murderous despot Saddam Hussein to glean $10.2 billion from a program that was supposed to give humanitarian aid to his suffering people.

These incidents of death and destruction are becoming more frequent, almost daily with death tolls that keep increasing as though they were trying to break the record of the last.

AL-QAIDA CLAIMS BLAME IN BOMBINGS

More than a dozen highly coordinated bombings ripped through Baghdad on Wednesday, killing at least 160 people and wounding 570 in the capital's bloodiest day since the end of major combat. Many of the victims were day laborers lured by a suicide attacker posing as an employer.

Suicide Blast by Woman Kills 8 Others; 57 Are Hurt

By SABRINA TAVERNISE
Published: September 29, 2005

BAGHDAD, Iraq, Sept. 28 - A woman walked up to the gate of a new army and police recruitment center in Tal Afar, a northern city, on Wednesday and blew herself up, killing 8 people in addition to herself and wounding 57, hospital and security officials said.

The bomber, who The Associated Press reported was dressed in men's clothing, struck at 10:45 a.m. outside the gate of a building that houses the new recruitment center and an American military office that processes compensation forms for Iraqis, the officials said. She detonated her belt of explosives, spraying metal balls into a crowd that had gathered, awaiting a security check, they said.

Al Qaeda in Mesopotamia, the terrorist group led by the Jordanian militant, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, claimed responsibility for the attack in a posting on a Web site.

This just makes my heart hurt, every time I hear about these kinds of tactics -- the waste of lives on both sides of the bomb. When will it end?https://www.nytimes.com/2005/09/29/internat...ast/29iraq.html
