I still do not see really what the big deal is to take a Thread about the WAR in Iraq and focus on a statement I made that in truth and in fact IS how people in the Western World view these kinds of things. Maybe I should have been more specific by saying:

Then people from the Middle East wonder why people in the Western World look at them funny? Go figure, but these accounts do little for PR!

Rather off topic, but...
If someone said that when they see how men pee in the street so frequently in my country makes them know how backward the Caribbean is then I would agree! No, not every man pees in the street, I know I do not, but it still DOES NOT change how people will view the Caribbean as a whole - you CANNOT change how people view things - you just have to deal with it. Standing in that persons shoes seeing two or three men doing it makes me know that I would have drawn the SAME conclusion: the Caribbean has pee stinking men who do not know better than to find a toilet! No need to personalize this. Let us get BACK to the WAR in Iraq.

Note: I am aware of the honor killings in other countries, but this Thread is not about who does it more or who does it more often, in fact, we have a Thread about honor killings elsewhere.

Rep. Dennis Kucinich: Democratic Leadership Failing U.S. Citizenry on War

On Capitol Hill, the House is expected to agree today to give President Bush $96 billion to continue the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. In a major victory for the Bush administration, the Democratic leadership abandoned its effort to include a non-binding timetable for withdrawal from Iraq in the war spending bill. Congressmember and presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich of Ohio says the Democratic leadership is failing the U.S. citizenry.

I"m just as passionately against honour killings as you are JB. I just don't associate them with any particular region in the world. I also don't believe that the Western world, or at least anyone who is informed about the issue in the Western world, would associate honour killings with Iraq. I agree that this is for another debate.

What we can all agree on is that there is no place in this world for such mindless brutality. As you correctly point out, events like these just fuel perception problems with Iraq.

I didnt bring the honour killing issue up someone else did. And it is relevant because it has been linked with Iraqi culture or society.

The statement about viewing people in the middle east funnily (because someone did something so sick I hope he burns in hell) is absurd because this act was completely random and has nothing to do with any religion or culture.

About carribean men it would still be absurd if I looked at carribean people funny based on an experience where I saw a few men peeing in the street.

Fine, but you alone chose to focus on it using my statement to take issue with defining the culture of Iraq, this is NOT what this Thread is about, so I please ask that you remain on Topic by focusing on the War itself and not my opinion, if you wish to concentrate on honor killing of itself then join me for Discussion here: Honor Killing.

Rather off topic, but...
It is also helpful to put the name of the person you are quoting, so I can know who you are referring to. Thanks.
