With all the focus on stopping uranium enrichment, it looks like Iran has been busy elsewhere. This really doesn't shock me, but it really is a bold move on their part.

From Breitbart:

QUOTE
Iranian Revolutionary Guard forces have been spotted by British troops crossing the border into southern Iraq, The Sun tabloid reported on Tuesday.
Britain's defence ministry would not confirm or deny the report, with a spokesman declining to comment on "intelligence matters".

An unidentified intelligence source told the tabloid: "It is an extremely alarming development and raises the stakes considerably. In effect, it means we are in a full on war with Iran -- but nobody has officially declared it."

"We have hard proof that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps have crossed the border to attack us. It is very hard for us to strike back. All we can do is try to defend ourselves. We are badly on the back foot."

The Sun said that radar sightings of Iranian helicopters crossing into the Iraqi desert were confirmed to it by very senior military sources.

In response to the report, a British defence ministry spokesman said: "There is evidence that explosive devices used against our troops in southern Iraq originated in Iran."

"Any Iranian link to armed militias in Iraq either through weapons supply, training or funding are unacceptable."

Britain has about 7,100 soldiers in Iraq, most of whom are based in the southern city of Basra and surrounding areas, though the government has pledged to reduce that to between 5,000 and 5,500 this year.

Perhaps they are trying to redraw the old Mesopotamian borders?

Either way, this is a pretty clear picture of what will happen when the US pulls out!

Not surprising really. They are testing things out and if attacked or highlighted they will just claim that British Troops were in Iran's land. If they did it with the British Troops that were captured by sea not too long ago then what is this?

To stay on Topic:

Such daily suicides / murders will not be stopped really because you have the backing of external rogue states. Civil war is underway and there is nothing the US can do about it. It is like trying to get a handful of worms to all stay in a straight line.

Yesterday, I saw a report on television where a general was saying that the reason a lot of the US military plans is not succeeding, is because of the lack of help / security given by Iraqi forces. The US will enter an area, clear out insurgents and then move on hoping that the local forces will secure the area, but it does not happen. So insurgents regroup and the process starts all over again. The US forces are just too small to handle a country this size.

Did anyone heard about those US soldiers who killed an Iraqi family , including gang raping and murdering their 14 years old girl? When I read the story, it made me sick to my stomach! Bastards! One of them won't get the death penalty because of his plea. I really do not understand how the justice system works sometimes, they deserve to die!

QUOTE
A second US soldier's plea of guilty to the gang rape of a 14-year-old Iraqi girl and the killing of her and her family has been accepted by a judge.

Sgt Paul Cortez admitted four murders, rape and conspiracy to rape. His plea means he will avoid the death penalty.

In November, Specialist James Barker, 24, admitted rape and murder over the killings and was jailed for 90 years.

Cortez broke down as he confessed to raping the girl as her parents and sister were shot dead in another room.

The case is one of several in which US troops are accused of killing Iraqis.

According to the plea agreement, Cortez admitted conspiring with three other soldiers, Private First Class Jesse Spielman, Specialist Barker and Steven Green, a now discharged soldier, to rape Abeer Qassim al-Janabi.

Iraq War Post

We have been discussing that earlier in this Thread. It is sad, gross and unfortunately is what happens in war, especially when you are part of the invading country (Japan vs. China in WWII as an example, although that was on a bigger scale). This is just ONE of the things Islamists like to use as a reason for counter attacks and terrorist plots, but of course one crime does not justify another.

I am all for the death penalty and think it would fit in nicely here. However, since they elected to give them long sentences, I only have one problem. See child rapist don't do too well in the US prison system. They are usually picked out and raped themselves, so basically these guys are going to get some of the same treatment that they dished out in return. So basically, they will be living their own hell. My only problem is that the sentences came with what I would considered short guaranteed jail terms for the crimes committed. Cortez got 100 years, but is eligible for parole in 10 years. That is WAY too short in my mind for this crime. Barker got 90 years, but since he didn't roll over for the prosecutors like Cortez, he will serve a minimum of 20 years for this crime. I still think that is a bit on the short side. He will be a little older than 40 when he could get out of jail. That means he would still have about half his life left... Nothing will ever make it even, because no one should have ever died or been raped, but that just doesn't even seem right.

Again, this all assumes that they really could get out in 10 or 20 years after going through a parole hearing. I just can't help but think that our stance historically 10-20 years down the line is going to be quite different about this war and what happened during it.

Vincenzo, thanks for the details. I am very upset to know they are eligible for parole! The kind of crimes they committed and the positions they were holding at that time should NOT allow them to get parole! This is disgusting.
