U.S. 'NOT WELL-PREPARED'
The United States is at great risk for more terrorist attacks because Congress and the White House have failed to enact several strong security measures, members of the former Sept. 11 commission said Sunday.

Increased security or removing liberty will not stop terrorists from attacking the US. The FBI was warned about September 11 and did nothing. If these people really want to attack they will find a way.
The only way you ever stop terrorism is by removing the cause of it. If the US changed its foreign policy in the Middle East, instead of playing "national security" politics domestically and installing fear into the population, it would be far more effective.

It seems like there is going to be an attack to the White House and soon. What do you all think? Should we take these threats seriously?

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Pakistan - The commander of the Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility Tuesday for a deadly assault on a Pakistani police academy and said the group was planning a terrorist attack on the White House that would "amaze" the world. Baitullah Mehsud, who has a $5 million bounty on his head from the U.S., said Monday's attack on the outskirts of the eastern city of Lahore was retaliation for U.S. Missile strikes against militants along the Afghan border. "Soon we will launch an attack in Washington that will amaze everyone in the world," Mehsud told The Associated Press by phone. He provided no details. Mehsud has never been directly linked to any attacks outside Pakistan, but attacks blamed on his network of fighters have widened in scope and ambition in recent years. The threat comes days after President Barack Obama warned that Al Qaeda is actively planning attacks on the United States from secret havens in Pakistan.... |

Symbolism is an effective phycological weapon, as an attack on a target with a relatively small population (the White House) would probably be more effective at getting the attention of the United States then an attack on a large population center in my opinion.
If they did attack the White House (or did attack us on any level nearing 9/11), I would advocate for symbolically significant Nuclear attack of every entity that supported such attacks, be they religious or secular (up to and including the complete destruction of Syria and Iran.)
Why are we worrying about why they intentionally target and kill innocent civilians by the thousands. Diplomacy and concession are considered weakness in these countries, and we cannot afford to respond to threats of death and destruction with apologies and concessions. The only language these type of people speak is that of blood and the sword. At this point loving them to death will not work.
Beware that you do not awake the sleeping tiger.

Let them attack the white house. We all know that if they want to attack something they are going to find a way to do it. I believe that it is our own pride and our freedoms that really sets these terrorists off. They can blow this building up or that building up but they can not harm the american way of life. That just irritates the heck out of a terrorist. They want to instil fear into america. Well they are not going to do it. Try as they may we will keep our freedoms and our way of life. The only think they are going to do is piss us off and America is not someone you really want on your bad side.
A government official tells CNN that members of Congress were briefed by the White House, intelligence and other officials on Thursday that there is a "specific, credible but unconfirmed threat" to the U.S. homeland as the 9/11 anniversary approaches.
The source said New York and Washington were specifically mentioned as possible targets.
The members were told that officials are "strongly concerned" and "are not taking anything for granted" the source told CNN.
Additionally, a senior administration official with first-hand knowledge tells CNN National Security Contributor Fran Townsend that there is "specific, credible but unconfirmed threat information."
The official noted that al Qaeda has shown an interest in important dates and anniversaries.
"Weird things" raised questions about the intelligence but officials felt they should inform people because of the nearing 9/11 anniversary. Ref. CNN
Occupy protester: I hope there's another 9/11
Just when you thought the Occupy crowd couldn't get any more despicable they go and do this: knowingly hope for another 9/11 to happen while being recorded on camera. Glenn also reminds us of what Van Jones said about the OWS protesters not long ago -- that these are the 'best' people in America. How many examples of hate, filth, vile, r-pe, etc do we need before someone in the media starts calling this movement out for what it really is? Ref. Source 3
Around this time I think about such things and it makes make fearful of how we will all act. It is one thing to have a terrorist attack but we do not have to all go into panic mode, that's the more scary part.
