What Trini do you think has made the biggest impact, is the most popular or has had the most influence in the world? Was or is it an athlete, a scholar, a literary genius, a politician, or other? Why do you think this person is worth mentioning? I ask the question because I have a difficult time myself trying to answer it. Give me your thoughts.

Sorry about the grammar there Thanks for the post. From a T&T persepctive, those are all very worthwhile, but do you really think from a global perspective that those people are well known? Lara would probably be the most popular out of the 3. Yes, this is not a popularity contest, but how much impact have these people really made where they can be considered a household name? I also realize that here in the US unless you are a celebrity, most people wont know who you are, and unfortunately that is a flaw in the US culture.
Well the names I used was based on your keyword 'impact' which denotes affecting people. Eric Williams impacted the entire population because of his press for Independence (which I wish never happened). If you had used the word 'popular' then I would have put Brian Lara or Dwight Yorke or Ato Boldon, etc.
Offtopic but, Don't worry about the grammar, I make loads of mistakes. |

I understand, well it depends on what part of the world you go. For instance Brian Lara is only known in the cricket world. Believe it or not, most people know Sparrow and Jenelle Commisiong - yes, and I have been around a bit.
What does everyone think about Peter Minshall? He recently won an Emmy Award for his unique Costume Design and now is quite famous (if he already wasnt before). Do you consider him to fit this category of Trinidadians making a global impact?
