AP - Jerry Rice could have played his last down in the NFL. The NFL's all-time leading receiver was mulling retirement Sunday, after Broncos coach Mike Shanahan told him that he would not be the team's No. 3 wideout.

Denver traded with St. Louis to obtain the 11th pick in the first round, and subsequently drafted Vanderbilt QB Jay Cutler. I am not sure about this pick, since Jake 'the snake' Plummer is currently the QB in Denver. I understand the need to develop a young QB to take over the reins someday, but I didn't think Denver needed to trade up to get the 11th pick to select him.

TRAINING CAMP POSTCARD: BRONCOS
At the Broncos' camp, 15 minutes south of downtown Denver, at their permanent practice facility. It's always a good gauge of Bronco Fever in town when you get to the parking lot near the practice facility and it's full, and you see orange-clad Broncophiles walking from wherever they've left their cars. On this morning, arriving around 9 for the 8:45 practice, 10 or 15 fans were trekking from some parking lot of some business to the first of two practices on the day.
