Comments: I know that Samuel de Champlain was considered the man who found the "New France" but was he as great as Columbus since he came to the Western hemisphere first?

I don't think you can compare him to Columbus but certainly he was a great explorer and also made sense about what he found because he created the maps to go along with his explorations.
