I'm hesitant to post this here but if anyone is interested this link will take you to the website of a current temple worker who started this site to answer questions about the temple respectfully. My disclaimer is that some may find the information too explicit about temple ordinances. However as far as I can tell nothing that is not supposed to be revealed is.
Why would the apostles (Men with a calling) have a list in the first place? Aren't they men like the rest of us humans? Who are they or any other man for that matter choose who is worthy of receiving the blessing of exaltation! you know what am I saying?
Ah, another touchy subject. I think it was Pres. Snow or Grant that stopped the 2nd Anointing. At that point 23,000 people had received this. Well, I personally believe that the first presidency, quorum of the twelve and who else, still currently receive this ordinance. It used to be done on Sunday afternoon's in the SLC temple. This ordinance consists of 2 parts. A couple is invited into the holy of holies. At this point they do not just receive a promise to become. . But actually are set apart as. .. They then go home and at sometime later the husband and wife conduct the second part. The wife does the foot washing of her husband and following that lays her hands upon his head and gives him a blessing. At some point in time later they are visited by the Lord who will confirm the administration. Their calling and election has now been made sure.
At this point the whole 2nd anointing is played down. Most temple presidents don't know anything about it. Some will state that it is not necessary and is only a "special" blessing.

Comments: Calling and election made sure & the second anointing are 2 separate things.
The best thing I was told about the calling & election made sure was that those that know about it, don't talk about it and those who don't know about it' talk about it.
As mentioned higher up, the scriptures talk about it being a personal revelation. So there is no list on earth and no additional ceremonies to perform. The prophet is the only one allowed in the Holy of Holies and only on very special occasions. Basically means that there are some things that are so sacred that those that know don't really talk about it.
Oh gotcha. Well, I won't venture to say that. To be honest, it kind of makes me go "hmmmm" when I heard that those who do get the C&E are based on "recommendation" of others who did get it. Basically, I heard those who got it are asked to provide some names of people who they think they should get it. I don't know if that's true but IF it is, it's scary.
Christ is not the only one who can seal people up to eternal life. The priesthood is the authority of God, and the Savior has given the authority to act in His name to His prophet. The Prophet has the authority to seal on earth and it shall be sealed in heaven. Thus, if the Prophet seals a person up unto eternal life, then that person is sealed up unto eternal life just as surely as though Christ, Himself, had performed the sealing.
There is a list, and my cousin, who used to be the Recorder in the SLC Temple actually had it in his possession at one time. We record all other ordinances in the Church, why would we not record the one most sacred ordinance in the Church.
No person who has not had their calling and election made sure, either in this life or the next, will ever be exalted. It is absolutely necessary. It is not necessary, however, to receive it in this life. It can be received by proxy in the next life, and that is probably how most of us will receive it. It's just not feasible for the Brethren to be able to get around to all fourteen million members of the Church. While he can delegate the authority to perform the ordinance to others of the Brethren, the recommend must be signed by him, personally, and fourteen million is a lot of recommends for one man to sign. He does have other responsibilities to perform. That is the revelation that is referred to in the scriptures. The D&C does not say "personal" revelation. It just says "revelation. " That revelation must come through the Prophet, although he has been known to ask for recommendations, the ultimate revelation must come through him.

Comments: I don't see how this is possible. How can you know that you are chosen? Only god can look at the full life of a person and judge whether he is worthy of his presence or not.
