Enough Time With Your Pet?

Do you think you spend enough quality time with your pet(s) or are you the type of person that just feeds them and leave them?

Pet Your Time Enough

The funny thing about that is that my family wanted a pet and I didn't. It turns out I'm the type of person who runs around with my labrador retriever and throws frisbees and rolls around in the grass with her. Everyone else was tired of caring for her after the first two weeks. I don't think it's right to be interested enough to buy the pet and then neglect it because caring for another life requires more than just food and water... like time, affection, and attention.

I try to spend quality time with my dog, but I know since we had the baby, he has sensed that his time has been cut into, and he is not as happy and jovial as he used to be. I know it bothers him when we pay so much attention to the baby, because he gets 'jealous' and comes over to get some attention, or just lays down and mopes. I will need to make more of an effort to play with him and take him out for walks etc, so that he doesnt feel neglected.

Pet Your Time Enough

Never have enough time in the day to spend with my pet(or a child). He lets me know when I get home that he missed me and its time to play. Usually about 3am with others in the house asleep which makes me feel bad. But we always go on a morning walk and the he climbs onto the foot of the bed for our nite nite time. biggrin.gif

Pet Your Time Enough

Well, I have a lot of pets. So each basically get scheduled time. At the moment we have a cat, three rabbits and two and a half horses (foal on the way-more care for mare.)
The cat basically gets terrorized by the entire family day in and day out mainly because she's just always there and our dog normally got that attention but he got put down a month or so ago.
Our rabbits... well, they get brought into the house once a week out of the garage to run. I know it sounds like a long time but they get taken out of their cages and cuddled during the week.
Our horses, they have chore time to bother us while we clean out the shelter and feed them. I try to ride my mare once a week. But with her being pregnant it's hard getting her into a good mood, ever. Our ex-stallion is broken to be ridden but everyone is too scared to, and I just plain hate him. We've always hated each other. My horse, the mare gets talked to and brushed every time I go out so she gets a lot of attention and my neighbors love her too and give her treats. So actually out of all of my pets she's the fattest and most spoiled. But the fat could be because of the foal.
I love my animals. They are the most amazing friends anyone could want. All have such amazing personalities and our whole family likes caring for them and playing with them. If we don't, our animals find us and make us play. Like my cat will raise around the house with Christmas ornaments that she hid over the holidays and pounce on us. My rabbits will bite us if we try to leave without petting them and my horses.... If I don't say the same things I say every time I go outside my horse shuns me. If she wants to play she'll nearly knock me over for a game of 'tag.' I would have to say that I have really good relationships with all of my animals. If you can call them relationships, but they are my buddies anyways.

Enough Time With Your Pet?

I just slapped myself on the wrist just thinking about this. I do not feel that I do bad considering the amount of time that I spend with my Dogs but there are days that they are left alone other than for feeding also. I really enjoy spending time playing with them yet with my schedule on so many days running longer than I would like I find I do not spend the amount of time with them that I once did with other dogs that I have had.

Enough Time Your Pet

My dogs get plenty of time spent with either myself or my husband, and they are both great with our 2 young children.
They don't quite get taken out for days out as much as they used to. Before my younger children were on the scene, we used to always take them with us when we went out to the seaside etc, but with little ones, we tend to ask a family member to look after the dogs whilst we have a day out, otherwise we wouldn't get much done.
They tend to get pampered with our family anyway!

No I really don't spend enough time with my dog, Vikingo. He doesn't seem to want to play with me as much as he used too. Ever since I started a second job he always just lays there. I should probably go walking with him now.
