In some cultures the female dances around a male (out of many seated males) that she particularly favors. In other cultures the marriage is based upon certain wild calls that are made from the top of a certain place. What are the traditions of engagement / marriage in your region?
I thought "that was interesting" about the wild calls from the top of a certain place. Where I come from if you are interested in courting as a male you must go to the young lady's home and firstly ask permission of the parents to be in the home and state your intentions for courting their daughter. If they agree then you are most welcome at anytime to court her in their home. If you are to be engaged then a spokes person and prominent family members take a great big pig, (food etc) gifts to honour the home and converse in noble tongue (where I come from there are 3 different dialects to use, 1 for royalty, 1 for nobility and 1 for commoners) then the lad asks for her hand in marriage. This is the basic tradition but there could be other traditions interpreted differently depending on religion, upbringing etc.
China and Japan are kind of similar... China is my favourite though. You always marry at around age 30 and you marries for money/relations. Usually someone your parents find agreeable.
In China you go on three date, If you still want to date by fourth date, you are automatically engaged. ^_^
