Democratic candidates fight to break out

Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders immediately became the target of more moderate Democrats running for the White House as their rivals argued during Tuesday night's debate that some of their ideas would be too costly and risky for the middle class.

Tuesday's debate took place in Detroit, the largest city in the battleground state of Michigan. It's a place Democrats are working hard to flip after losing it to Trump by a narrow margin in 2016 -- the first time the state had gone to a Republican since 1988.

That setting provided an opening for some of the lesser-known moderates in the race, some of whom are hanging on by a thread already as they fight to keep their campaigns alive. In the opening stages of the debate, that was obvious in how some candidates attacked the progressive "Medicare for All" position. Ref. CNN.

I find that this is the major issue with most democrats- their views vary so much on certain issues that they can never fully agree. Its going to be a tough race.

This is not a problem. Democrats currently vary more in their views than Republicans because Republicans have a litmus test and a loyalty test, and if you fail you are a RINO. The pendulum could eventually swing the other way. But Democrats tend to try to be (Or appear to be) open minded which hurts them in the unified front department. But they are right on some critical issues, especially climate change.
