I am becoming aware that I am loosing my temper pretty regularly. It's not physical anger but more verbal anger at those around me. I try and be aware of it and I have been able to control it pretty well. However some days I snap before I am aware of it coming.

For example this morning my kid was getting ready for school. He said he was all ready to go so I got up and got ready to leave. I told him I am ready lets go and then I look down and see he has no socks or shoes on. I know this isn't a huge deal but every morning it is something like this.

He can't find his hat, or his jacket, sometimes he forgets he even has school and is just singing a song to himself o something. Anyway told him to get his shoes and socks on and he did, but he put on his old broken down shoes. He knows those are not his school shoes so at this point I am a little frustrated and I tell him to take those off and find his good shoes.

So I walk away to calm down and several minutes later he is still in the hallway but now barefoot. I'm like, where are you shoes, why are you barefoot now. I said this with an angry tone and that caused him to cry. I ended up calling him an idiot and finding his shoes myself.

I guess that isn't a huge problem but I don't like that I am calling my almost 7 year old son an idiot. I know it isn't right and hurts his feelings pretty bad. I can grasp that he is having problems staying focused but it isn't because he can't focus. I watch him do so many other things without a problem but when it comes to cleaning his room, getting ready for school, things that are not fun, he looses focus.

I just wanted to post this and take accountability in a way for calling my kid a name. I think if I make myself post it here it will force me to be more aware of the line I am crossing and hopefully help keep me in check.
