As Avan watches over the slumbering body of Asthelion and the figure of Jeffery slumped by a tree, he thinks he sees movement from the water. He picks up his bow from the ground next to the fire, and pulls out an arrow in precaution.
When the armored person is close enough for details to be visible (50' ?) he says "Halt! Put down your weapons if you mean peace!" just loud enough to wake up his colleague.
Asthelion is one of the few people he knows who can actually dream about taking naps. He was just getting into just such a dream when he heard what sounded like a muffled voice. At first it was just a distraction but the voice got louder until the rogue recognized it as Avan's voice. The ranger was talking loudly near him, waking him up.
Still unable to fully make out the words, Asthelion woke up grumbling under his breath about the lighter topics such as pain, suffering, and murder.
The rogue then realized that Avan was not talking to him but so a stranger approaching from the sea. The unnecessary volume of whatever the dialogue was must've been to alert Asthelion. The rogue pushes himself up and, after glancing at Jeffery the pirate, makes a grab for his weapons that he had taken off the previous night just before falling asleep. Terribly unfortunate if he were to roll over in his sleep onto his dagger, sheath or no sheath. After this Asthelion peers at the newcomer with bleary eyes from slumber.
GM Note: The previous player has not posted so I do not think he will be playing at this point. We can carry on now without the new comer, so, feel free to resume posting your characters thoughts and actions.
Asthelion agrees, "Alright but lets hurry about our business. Already some people may be looking for him, I know I would be."
He then walks over to the stirring pirate and kneels down in front of him. After showing that he has no weapons in his hands, he stares at the pirate for some time.
After a few minutes the rogue says, "You look thirsty. Care for a drink? Maybe some food if we can find some?"
"Here", Asthelion lifts the canteen to the pirates lips after taking a drink himself to demonstrate it is not poisoned, "best not to talk with a dry mouth. Have a drink then speak your mind friend."
The rogue lets the pirate drink until he is satisfied then caps the canteen and sets it down.
