D&D 3.5 Missing Ships Game - Page 20

Out of Character: Alright then, good point. It doesn't matter to me too much right now seeing as I could die in the next move and that takes a little more precedence but I was just wondering. Thank you.

Asthelion winces as pain lances through his shoulder and he almost drops his sword. His arm is almost rendered numb and he is fairly certain his leg took a nice knock from a club as well. He is no fool when it comes to melee combat and he knew he had little chance of standing up to another attack like that. Thinking quickly Asthelion pulls out the caltrops from his pouch and throws them on the sand and steps back, shifting his stance slightly to fight defensively, still providing a shield for Avan. He then sweeps his swords in an arc to create some room and keep his enemies at bay while he takes a half a second to catch his breath.

Caltrops (+0): 10, 5, 18
Damage: 1 (1/2 speed)

Fighting Defensively (-4 to attack, +2 to dodge bonus for AC for the round)
Result: 5, 15
Damage (0): 2, 5

Out of Character: Sorry for the delay. Sometimes I check my emails on my tablet, but this site is incompatibly with the browser(cant scroll up or down). I think I've posted then check back when there's no new messages and realise I heaven't posted.

Avan moves to stand side by side with Asthelion and swings his short-sword to the best of his limited ability.

(Apparently a short-sword is martial)

Melee attack(-4) = 12, Nat20
Damage(0) = 2, (4x2)=8

Asthelion steps back and drops caltrops, the lizard-mens tough leathery skin combined with the soft giving sand renders them ineffective. He swings at the nearest advancing enemy but misses.

Avan drops his bow and quickly attacks with his short sword. Surprisingly he lands a slash across a lizard-mans throat. Blood spirts from the fatal wound as the lizard-man drops to its knees clutching its neck with both hands. The attempts to stave the blood flow are futile, though it does not know it quite yet.

The other two remaining lizard folk attack Asthelion but miss due to his defensive fighting techniques.

After seeing how effective the caltrop idea was, Asthelion silently curses the weapons manager who sold them to him.

"Buy the caltrops he said", the rogue growls,"They'll never fail, he said. Like hell they won't."

After seeing Avan take up the sword, Asthelion realizes his comrades need for protection from melee attack is no more. The rogue, staying in his defensive stance begins to slide away from Avan, circling around the lizard men to put them on the defensive from two sides. The rogue is also careful not to step on his own caltrops as his luck hasn't been too grand as of late. While he does this he takes another experimental slash at a the nearest lizard man.

Defensive Fighting (-4 att, +2 dodge)
Result: 3, 16
Damage: (I don't think 3 is going to cut it so for the 16...) 4

Avan frowns as he sees the caltrops go to waste.

Melee attacks(-4) = 5, 7
Damage(0) = 4, 4

"I'm not cut out out for this" Avan shouts as he swings his sword.

You all exchange attacks in a flurry of actions. Only Asthelion's attack was able to hit its mark, slashing the lizard man in his chest.

The lizard men look shaken and appear to be loosing heart.

Asthelion hears his comrades remark and can't help but laugh, "You should have stuck with fishing then friend.", and with that the rogue, seeing his chance after his strike on the lizard man, explodes out of his defensive stance and goes back on the offensive towards the lizard man, slashing both swords at him.

Out of Defensive Fighting stats return to normal (AC back to 17)
Melee (+3)
Result: 10, 18
Damage: 5, 5

Avan does not see this as a time for jocularity and does not smile at the comment. He continues swinging his weapon at the lizardmen.

Melee attacks(-4) = 5, 10
Damage(0) = 1, 5
