The captain, "We will be setting back out a day from now in the morning. I know your on a quest but I have fresh fish to sell. If I hang around here any longer than that my haul will suffer."

The beach (shore) is about a thousand feet from the anchored boat (Randy Pelican). There are a few dunes (small islands) scattered around between you and the beach. You won't be able to toss your pack on the shore from here. Hehon offers use of a life boat for 8gp, or you can swim.

Avan swims to the shore at a leisurely pace, and upon reaching the beach, unpacks everything, taking a while (1/2 hour?) to let it dry.

You both take a paced swim towards the shore. Your swim goes well, being inspected only by a few curious small fish. Once on the shore you see clearly the wooden structure you'd only seen the top of from the boat. While waiting for your stuff to dry you take time to gaze at it from afar.

It is definitely makeshift whoever constructed. The design is not interested being astatically appealing, or to be incredibly durable. It is made of rope and wood, standing around 50' high.

The beach your now on is a normal looking beach. On one side you have the reef, The Randy Pelican is now obscured by the lightly forested dunes. And on the other side you have thick vegetated woods.

The sky is getting a little darker by the time your clothes have dried. You figure in a couple hours it will be night.

"Rope and wood, eh?" Avan ponders. "Seems to me our ships have somehow been dismantled and rebuilt here, if that's even possible. I suggest using our common skill set (Out of Character:: I assume) we talked about over dinner. We should hide and gather as much information as we can for a few hours. We need to check details such as how many guards there are, where the entrances are and what exactly we're dealing with here. We can't be too careful. I suggest splitting up and checking it from different angles, I'll take the dunes and you try the woods. Stay well into the treeline. What do you say to that?"

"I say we leave the decision making to you", the rogue replies jokingly and gathers his weapons to set out, leaving his other equipment well hidden from wandering creatures.

I just realized last night while falling to sleep that the dunes are out in the water. So if you go and search them your going to get all wet again. Then I started thinking maybe you thought the dunes were on the beach, they aren't. The dunes (and the lighthouse) are all tiny little islands within the reef/bay. If you still want to go ahead with that action let me know. It will take you more than 2 hours to fully search every dune.

Oh, I would rather have Avan approach the structure, but keep to some sort of treeline to not be spotted. It would probably be best if the half-elves go scouting together actually.
