Coronal Mass Ejection
The Coronal Mass Ejection (CME), a solar blast of highly-energetic particles, is expected to arrive at Earth on Saturday, likely sparking bright Northern Lights and potentially disrupting some communications. A "Long Duration M3.2 Class Solar Flare" started at 8:42 a.m. ET, on Thursday, according to the space agency and released the blast now traveling towards Earth at 630 miles per second. Ref. Source 1
I wonder why this hasn't been circulated more in the news, seems pretty important and could scare a lot of people if their communication links suddenly died.
Well that in itself (scaring everyone) is a good reason not to put too much hype on it because its not like you can prevent it any, still it will be nice to see the northern lights activated from it.
Did you see the cool photo of a CME picked up by a satalite orbiting the sun? Check this photo out: Source 9 man suppose that was on our side.
