Olive Oatman

I came across this photo by accident and thought the story was noteworthy. Olive Oatman was a 13 year old daughter of Mormon pioneers who were slaughtered by the Yavapai Indians and made a slave. She was then traded to the Mohave and back to the White settlers after being tattooed. She went through hell and back again. You read stories like this and then hear some teen complaining about their iPhone not being fast enough and you can only shake your head. Children of today's Western civilization do not know what true survival means.

Such a brave woman to go through all of that and still remain with a literal mark of her ordeal.
