The person who owns the property may rightly control his own property. That is entirely proper and right. Guns, no guns, no red socks, whatever!

House The Gun Having

This of course is a bigger issue in the USA where there is an actual right to bear arms, but then again there is so much debate over what that really means. Here is some quotes from a gun control site:

"Erroneous interpretations of the words in the Second Amendment occur from both sides of the debate. The meaning of the words "militia," "well regulated," "the people," "to keep and bear," and "arms," are discussed."

"Of all the words in the Second Amendment, "well regulated" probably causes the most confusion. The Random House College Dictionary (1980) gives four definitions for the word "regulate," which were all in use during the Colonial period (Oxford English Dictionary, 2nd Edition, 1989):
1) To control or direct by a rule, principle, method, etc.

2) To adjust to some standard or requirement as for amount, degree, etc.

3) To adjust so as to ensure accuracy of operation.

4) To put in good order."

I think the law was originally meant to follow the definitions of 3 and 4. I see nothing wrong with the right to bear arms (to each his own right?)

MENTALLY ILL STILL SKIRTING GUN LAWS

In Alabama, a man with a history of mental illness killed two police officers with a rifle he bought on Christmas Eve. In suburban New York, a schizophrenic walked into a church during Mass and shot to death a priest and a parishioner. In Texas, a woman taking anti-psychotic medication used a shotgun to kill herself.

Having a gun in the house is my right period point blank then end. You can't deny the fact kids play with things they are not allowed to, that what kids do. Its like drinking, if you are exposed to it all your life when you become a teen the thrill of drinking isn't there.

When I have kids yes they will be taught about guns and there safety. When they are mature enough (age has doesn't matter) they will take a gun safety course. Parenting is 90% of the problem as I see it. The other 10% is stupidity not keeping it locked (trigger locks or gun safes) while your not at home with the kids.

I honestly can not see a useful purpose for legalising firearms. If one person each year dies from this ridiculous law then isn't that one person too many?

Guns are designed to kill people. Why would you legalise a weapon that's sole purpose is to hurt people?

I can understand people using guns on a farm or for hunting game, but for everyone to have one makes little sense to me.

There are so many psychologicaly unstable people out there and to give them an easy method to kill people is criminal. Plus what about children, how many children a year die in the US because of legalised firearms?

Statistics show very clearly that reducing the number of guns (by using gun control laws) leads to a great increase in violent crime. Britain, Australia, and Canada are all excellent examples of this. Mexico, which has extremely strict gun control laws, has an extremely high violent crime rate.

In the US, when Washington, D.C. passed strict gun control laws, violent crime went up dramatically. When Florida eased their gun control laws, violent crime went down dramatically. These trends have happened every time such laws have come into being, as far as I know. When criminals know that the populace is disarmed, they are free to continue their criminal behaviors.

What is NOT reported in the media is that for every crime that is performed with a gun, at least 2 are prevented by citizens who own guns. So, if a gun control law is passed, and even ONE person dies because of it, then it is a bad law, right? Yet statistics show very clearly that this is the case.

Yes, there are psychologically unstable people out there. And they can attack with a kitchen knife as easily as with a handgun. And a woman with a handgun can stop such an attack, every time. However, she can't if she is disarmed because she is a law-abiding citizen.

Every person should have the opportunity to defend themselves from the criminal and unstable elements of society. How do you expect them to do so if you take their weapons away?

I agree but then it should exist strong laws concerning how these guns are kept in a person's home, I do not agree with just having a gun and nobody knows whether I am keeping them safe from my children or other adult. There should be some sort of control over this.
