Jehovah Witnesses Watchtower Scripture Revealed Bible The
QUOTE (Int)
How is it that the Watchtower does so much interpretation of the Bible,
The Scriptures interpret themselves. You will hardly find a statement in our published articles that is not backed up by several Bible references, sighted or quoted. The purpose of the Watchtower as stated on the inside of the cover page of the magazine:
QUOTE The Watchtower, is to honor Jehovah God, the Supreme Ruler of
the universe. Just as watchtowers in ancient times enabled a person to observe developments from afar,
so this magazine shows us the significance of world events in the light of Bible prophecies. It comforts
people with the good news that God's Kingdom, which is a real government in heaven, will soon bring
an end to all wickedness and transform the earth into a paradise. It promotes faith in Jesus Christ, who
died so that we might gain everlasting life and who is now ruling as King of God's Kingdom. This
magazine has been published by Jehovah's Witnesses continuously since 1879 and is nonpolitical. It
adheres to the Bible as its authority.
QUOTE (Int)
who are the people behind it anyways
The writers that volunteer their time and effort are anonymous, they do not seek prominence or the limelight.
QUOTE (Int)
Is the Watchtower like scripture for the Jehovah Witnesses?
No! The Watchtower is a Bible study aid, it is only used to help interest ones learn Bible truth.
QUOTE (Bible citation 2 Timothy 3:16 @ 17)
All Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work.
QUOTE (Int)
Notice how they are quick to offer you a Watchtower and not a Bible?
We feel it's advantageous for you to use your own personal copy of the Bible. This dispels the notion that what is taught is only in our NWT translation of the Holy Scriptures. When studying the scriptures with interested ones we encourage them to compare how a scripture if phrased in their Bible compared to the NWT. Let me illustrate the advantages By relating a experience of one of my Brothers.
QUOTE Mark 10:14 "SUFFER the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God." (Mark 10:14, Authorized Version) The King James version reads very similar "Suffer the little children "
I once met a non-practicing, Irish Catholic lady in the ministry who quoted her objection to me, "suffer the little children". Somehow that phrase had etched itself in her psyche and she had become convinced that Jesus (whom she viewed as God) was declaring his intention that children shall suffer! What a complete contrast to the Truth! (We were able to assist the lady in adjusting her understanding of the meaning of the phrase, "suffer the little children" and see it in the correct context.)
The experience demonstrates one of the many advantages of the New World translation:
(Mark 10:14) . . ."Let the young children come to me; do not try to stop them, for the kingdom of God belongs to suchlike ones."
You c their Bible do fill that a modern English Translation of the Bible"¦ example suffer thy not the children on to me. Then NWT rendering.
