Is Something Bad About To Happen?

Certain sources are buzzing with information about some a possible bad incident happening some time this month or in the very near future.

Robert McHugh of www.safehaven.com reports, "The Federal Reserve has confirmed our Stock Market Crash forecast by raising the Money Supply (M-3) by crisis proportions, up another 46.8 billion this past week. What awful calamity do they see? Something is up. This is unprecedented, unheard-of pre-catastrophe M-3 expansion. M-3 is up an amount that we've never seen before without a crisis - $155 billion over the past 4 weeks, a $2.0 trillion annualized pace, a 22.2 percent annualized rate of growth." (as quoted by Skousen in "World Affairs Brief", June 4, 2004)

There are an unprecendented number of aircraft carriers out of port (see globalsecurity.org), the Russians East Navy is out, and the Chinese navy are said to be practising manouevers very near to Taiwan.

These are just two factors that Joel Skousen reports in his last two World Affairs Briefs (www.joelskousen.com) - a source I have come to trust. There are a lot of other things that when put together strongly indicate (but do not prove) that something may be happening very soon...

You're right about the buzz. The problem is, I think it really IS just buzz.

We are involved in military operations. Thus, there is a lot of naval activity, with ALL our ships going in and out of port.

I have seen a few reports that show the M3 supply is actually right at the average for the last 20 years.

Yes, I think there is a lot that is going to happen soon. But I really doubt that aircraft carrier movement has anything to do with it.

I really think it was just a bunch of conspiracy theorists, overreacting.

As far as the Chinese running military manuvers in the Taiwan Strait, that was really true at the time. They have done it about once every 1-2 years for a while now. I will be interested to see if it continues with the change of government in Taiwan, but it was usually done following some pretty staunch rhetoric from either side regarding Taiwan's souverenty. China just announced its anti-sessesion laws and Taiwan responded by giving President Chen (DPP) another 4 years and Chen's continued calls for a totally self governing and acknowledged country of Taiwan. The result was a flexing of increased power by the Chinese and that was pretty much it.

This wikipedia entry is a pretty good summary of the situation between China and Taiwan. The status quo seems to be the strategy for the immediate and near future.

Does Taiwan have the capabilities to rebuff an offensive from China? At least long enough for help to arrive?

If China wanted to use military might on Taiwan I doubt that they could hold off long enough for anyone to back them up. Any help will be like Kuwait in 1990 where we went in to free them after they were overrun.

According to military experts, Taiwan would be expected to hold off China at the current time. However, the military investment that China is continuing to pour into the budget on a yearly basis cannot be matched by Taiwan. Taiwan has a fairly good navy as well as airforce. China, at current, would not be able to successfully make a landing in Taiwan. However, by 2010, it is theorized that Taiwan could be taken back by Chinese force. China's military is large but is not yet fully equiped with high tech modern weapons.

2010 is the year when it is expected that China's electronic military capabilities will equal or surpass Taiwan's.
