"She's currently in grave condition and not expected to survive," Rooney said yesterday afternoon. A spokeswoman for Sharp Memorial Hospital said she could not confirm that the woman was being treated there. Police late yesterday were not releasing the identity of the victim. Rooney said the Police Department wanted to give her husband time to notify family members before making her name public. Rooney said he would not release the daughter's name because she is a juvenile.

The daughter was already being held--I always find it so sad when the neighbors say they are surprised or like someone mentioned her (the daughter) as a sweet girl. I know sometimes outward appearances can be deceiving but then I wonder if something goes wrong in the "heat of the moment" at times and something like this becomes deadly. I wonder if she will ever say what caused her to do it.

I have seen kids get angry with their parents and I know some teens get a little violent. I feel that taking it this far is a little extreme and this girl needs some anger management classes. I hope she gets the help she needs and that she can come to terms that she killed her mother.

Very sad that it comes to this. It is a good reminder that we as parents need to listen to our children and not just dictate to them all them time causing them huge amounts of frustration that has no release.

Good point there Krakyn. Sometimes parents just dictate to a teen of how their life should be. They forget that as a teen the child is trying to find out who they are and need to have someone to talk to to help them get ready to be on their own. If your teen has no outlet for their frustrations then they could snap.

Listening to my teens I know there is a lot of information and peer pressure out there. Most of it is kids trying to fit in here or there. As they become more independent I find them wanting more and more freedoms. My teens are getting more freedoms as they get older but there is one rule that we keep. They have to let us know where they are at all times. This helps us plan for dinner and who may need picked up later.

I definitely hope she can get some anger management. Our family was just talking about this last night...the problem with anger and frustration is that most people react so fast and without thinking what could happen. I am learning a great deal about this with my 3 oldest.
