Well the Warriors are now in a group with England, Paraguay and Sweden - all tough teams. Some say that we stand a better chance playing against Europeans, but I am not so sure, plus we have a South American team in the group as well. Do you predict a win or defeat in their first match-up with Sweden?

Hmm, I predict they will lose against Sweden but there are always so many surprises in the world cup so you never know!. Sweden qualified with better points than Argentina. I think Trinidad was very unlucky in the drawing so I do not think they will pass the second round. I hope to be wrong because I will love to see them in the second round.

I can't see Trinidad beating any of those teams. They would do well to draw in this tournament, but good luck to them.

Well, it was great to see T&T finally qualify for a World Cup. It has long been a dream of the natives to see their beloved Warriors on the World stage. However, I don't see them winning any games in the Group they are in, but, I hope I am wrong. Unfortunately I didn't have the opportunity to see any of their qualifiers, but I'll be watching all their games in the World Cup; that's for sure.

Since you did not see the qualifiers you cannot know by how slim the chance they won the qualifier. The last one against Bahrain was featured internationally, because of the amount of controversy in the match - it was quite entertaining. You should look to see if any other Trinis in your area has a copy of it.

As for not winning any matches... a lot of people here are boasting they can take on England, because most of our players are already are on English based teams and familiar with their style of play, but to be honest I just shake my head at such statements. Nevertheless, I look forward to see what they can do.

I've been here 6 years now and haven't run across one Trinidadian. I think it's too cold over here for their blood. I'll try to see if I can get my hands on at least an article talking about the controversy; I didn't realize there was even one about that match.

To read about the match simply look at Rasta's post here. There is a good description within that BBC review, however it is not as good as seeing it live.

I'm so excited for Trinidad! Its about time we find ourselves there! This entire world cup fiasco has caused such a surge in national pride and unity in the country..its an incredible feeling. At this point its all about keeping the faith. They played amazing football in their first friendly against Iceland the other day. I must admit I expected a draw or even a loss but a 2-nil victory was mind blowing! The coach..Leo Benhakker ( not certain of the spelling) maximised on all substitutions and Dwight York scored the 2 goals. Of course one could see that they have loose ends to tie up but considering that the entire team had not played together since the qualifying match, their performance was fantastic.
They seem confident..the coach even went as far as to say in a press conference that the media go back and tell the English coach and Beckham that Trinidad and Tobago will present a strong challenge and to not underestimate them. In the Guardian Newspaper today( 6th march), they said the coach warned the players to take special care of which offers of the many they decide to take up. I believe the federation wanted to portray the team as the "Cinderella team" from a land of sun, sand, sea and carnival. I was happy that our guys didnt agree to it. They wanted not only themselves and the game but also their country to be taken seriously. So as far as I'm concerned, they haven't brought embarrassment to the nation and I'm truly proud to be a Trini at this point in time. Absolutely Fantastic! Go Soca Warriors!
