In 1993 this game came out and I rented it from a local game rental store and was immediately hooked. I began to save up money to buy the $100.00 game, that's right I said 100 U.S. Dollars. Apparently it was some sot of limited release and only a certain amount of copies were made. Even now today if you check EBay it is around 150 - 200 dollars for the set (game/walk-through book/etc). That is pretty impressive when you considering a new release for a PS3 or similar console runs 60 dollars tops.
Anyways, I played it and played it and never got to the end. Around 1995 I borrowed it to a friend and moved so I never got it back. I thought I would never play it again until recently I found it on downloadable content for my Wii.
It was priced at like 15 bucks.
I bought it and have been playing it on and off ever since. I have started over about 5 times now and keep running into problems. It's amazing to me that this game nearly 10 years old holds my attention. Honestly I think if they remade it the game would still be top of the line competition in today's market. Actually they wouldn't even have to remake it. Just beef up the environment and graphics a little. The story/character/strategy and everything is solid and could just stay as is.
I just got myself exited again, I have to go play.
Never heard of the Ogre Battle: The March Of The Black Queen so I looked it up and the graphics aren't bad for the period but D&D had their own PC version out that was better looking that I think it was called "Pool of Radiance".
