It is official now, FIFA will investigate Luis Suarez.
A lot of Brazilians are complaining that they are not producing talent as they had in the past but with the way the referees are judging games they may get a roller coaster ride to victory.
World Cup 2014 has been a high-scoring one and that may well play into the hands of the Brazilians. They can certainly score goals so it may come down to who can score more in a match. More defensive-minded teams like Italy don't do well in those situations.
Argentina 3 and Nigeria 2
From the get go it was very active game and thank goodness that the Argentinians got their groove back as far as being more creative and fast paced. In the first five minutes Messi and Mesa scored for their sides making it the fastest goal scoring in any World Cup by both sides.
Bosnia and Herzegovina 3 and Iran 1
An interesting match but in the end Bosnia made a late victory in their World Cup quest. Both Iran and Bosnia and Herzegovina will now be on their way home. Nigeria and Argentina top this group
France 0 and Ecuador 0
France had many chances on goal but the Ecuadorian goal keeper had magic on his side to keep the ball out. The Ecuadorian captain was also sent off after a tackle that for me should have only been a yellow. Even with 10 men the Ecuadorian team were taking many shots on goal, but it just was not good enough. Hopefully France does not play this poor in the second round.
Switzerland 3 and Honduras 0
I am currently watching the delay of this one. I dislike the simultaneous matches, more especially when the commentator is revealing the score of the other game.
That was an amazing 2nd goal by Lionel Messi in the Nigeria - Argentina game! If Argentina can get Higuain on track they have a real shot of going deep in the tournament.
Today is D-day for team USA. There's a lot of rumors about collusion between the US coach and the German team, but I'm hoping for a good game by both teams.
Heavy rains in Recife, Brazil, the location of today's World Cup match between the U.S. And Germany, has caused extensive flooding, turning roads into rivers and making access to the stadium difficult.
FIFA, the world governing body of soccer, just announced that the U.S. Game will be played as scheduled at noon ET.
FIFA also announced that Luis Suarez, Uruguay's star striker, has been suspended for the rest of the World Cup tournament for biting Italy's Giorgio Chiellini during the game between the two soccer powers on Tuesday. He is suspended for a total of nine matches and is banned from any kind of soccer-related activity for four months. Ref. CNN
Rumors will always be that, rumors. Everything started to be awkward when they left Donovan out but this coach thinks he can take the team further without him. So far I only see Dempsey doing all the work, doesn't seem like a real plan to me.
Michael Bradley will definitely need to play better in this game than he did in the first two. As a controlling midfielder, the team will be relying on him heavily to distribute, fall back on defense, and not give up possession foolishly. The last part was not executed fully in the Portugal game which eventually led to the game tying goal.
Also, if the US is serious about getting a result in this game, they'll need a second true striker other than Dempsey out there. Either Johansson or Wondolowski should be playing alongside him so that he doesn't run ragged by the 2nd half.
