Germany 1 and USA 0
I only saw the second half and the Muller goal which was fantastically taken by the veteran striker. The USA was clearly out matched but they will proceed to the second round anyway since Portugal beat the Ghanians.
Ghana 1 and Portugal 2
The US had a really good chance in the 1st half, but it fizzed over the crossbar. Germany was content with their one goal lead and backed off a bit in the 2nd half, and once Portugal had scored their second, it was pretty much in the bag for the US. Now they will probably face Belgium in the 2nd round which is not a bad matchup for them considering.
Algeria 1 and Russia 1
My boys were giving me grief so I could not watch this match properly but I am happy to see the Algerians make it into Group 16 for the first time ever.
Korea 0 and Belgium 1
The Koreans could have won this but they were wasting too much time around the penalty box instead of striking the ball at the goal. The whole game was also like a tennis match with the ball going at both ends 1-3 times in the space of a minute simply because of bad passes.
