I am expecting England to step up their game but Costa Rica is to be watched this tournament. I am sure they are going for all wins this first round and they can do it.
Italy vs Uruguay will be a match to see, Italy is second right now but Uruguay wants to be second, they have to win to do that, whereas Italy can hold a draw and remain second...I don't think the Italians want to draw though but we will see. As I said, it should be a good match.
I am expecting Cote d'Iviore to beat the Greeks but stranger things have happened this World Cup.
Japan vs Colombia should be a walk over for the Colombians too but the Japanese have a never die spirit, they won't give them the match, they will have to work to win this.
Italy 0 and Uruguay 1
Lordryoko not sure what you meant by the second position but the Italians are on their way home. I understand there was a contentious part of the game where Suarez was said to bite someone and an Italian player was sent off, but did not get a chance to see it.
England 0 and Costa Rica 0
A draw puts Costa Rica at the top of the group. This was a rather boring game. Costa Rica I'm sure did not play at their fullest simply because they did not have to. England needed to save pride here but could not.
I didn't see the Suarez biting incident yet (Will watch it when I get home) but if he is found to have done this, I believe FIFA needs to step in and levy some heavy sanctions. This would be the third similar incident for him and a message needs to be sent out that this type of behavior is unacceptable in football.
Suarez' biting incident aside, I was saddened to see Italy exit this early for the 2nd world cup in a row, but it might have been for the best as they were not on top of their game this year, and probably would have exited early in the knockout stages anyway.
How they robbed Italy - This is what Suarez did and he did NOT get any card. He bit the man and this the third time he does it, video: Source 1
Also in the same link it is the tackle that got the red card to an Italian player, definitely NOT worth a red card what the hell!
I heard about the red card for Marchisio on the radio as I was driving back to work from lunch. The commentators seemed to agree with you Pandora that the foul was a yellow card at best, but definitely not a red. It did put the Italians at a great disadvantage for almost 30 minutes, which in the end probably helped with the goal they conceded. Not an ideal way to exit a World Cup.
Ivory Coast 1 and Greece 2
What an upset. The Ivory Coast threw this one away from sloppy plays, bad defending and double vision striking. Greece only won because they capitalize on the Ivory Coast's mistakes and that second goal was a farce off of a fake foul that the referee bought.
Colombia 4 and Japan 1
I know the figure of Colombia is impressive but they only had the 2 goals from their 4 in the latter half when Japan sent everyone forward to move the score from 2:1. Nevertheless, as I said here: Colombia Football, the Colombians were clearly ahead of the Japanese in football superiority.
