Some countries have policies about dealing with UFOs. Do you think that if a UFO is spotted that the military would act aggressively or defensively towards it? Do you know what is your country's policy concerning UFO's? In the USA (according to TLC), military personnel are told to keep all sightings quiet and even discredit legit encounters so as to not cause public panic. The other worrying thought is that some UFO encounters could be seen as infiltration by another country and not extra-terrestial. In 1971 there was an agreement between the USA and the former Soviet Union in the treatment of unidentified objects.

One of the key tactics here that interests me is the part about misinforming the public about the truth (assuming there was / is an invasion of aliens). In other words, if there were aliens among us and the government knew, they would choose to say nothing or invent a story. Although I understand the reasoning behind this because of past experience and people's roles in a panic, I still find it frightening.
