A new CNN/ORC International poll shows the presidential race is still very close in the battleground state of Ohio, where Barack Obama has a 50%-47% margin over Mitt Romney, well within the poll's sampling error of plus or minus 3.5% points.
In the survey, Romney leads among white men 61%-37%, while Obama is the preferred candidate among white women by 51%-46%.
The race in the Buckeye State has remained essentially the same throughout October, with all three CNN/ORC polls taken in the month showing Obama between 50% and 51% and all three showing Romney between 46% and 47%. Ref. CNN

It is close in other areas as well. Obama's favorable rating: 52%. Romney's favorable rating: 51%. 51% say they agree with Obama on important issues. 50% say the same about Romney. 56% say that Obama has the personal qualities a president should have. 55% feel that way about Romney. Homer Simpson may doom Obama

I have a sneaking suspicion that Romney will win. Obama let many people down and hasn't had a favorable rating generally for the way he has steered the economy.

Ten voters in the tiny village of Dixville Notch, New Hampshire, cast the first Election Day votes of the 2012 general elections at 12:01 a.m. ET, in keeping with a tradition that began in 1960.
The results were a first for Dixville Notch: a tie. Five voted for President Obama and five voted for Mitt Romney.
Several other towns in New Hampshire, including Hart's Location, just southeast of Dixville Notch, also allow midnight voting. Ref. CNN
