Behind The Pink Ribbon: Komen's Ties With Planned Parenthood
Every year thousands of women train and prepare to Race for the Cure organized by Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the world's largest breast cancer nonprofit. During October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, almost every product on the shelves, from batteries to blenders, turns pink and contributes a portion of their sales to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. One needs not see the name to know who is behind the pink ribbon. Most people, however, do not know what is beyond the ribbon and the name for which it stands.
$731,303. That is the amount donated to Planned Parenthood by Susan G. Komen for the Cure in 2009 alone. The relationship between Planned Parenthood and Susan G. Komen has been documented and objected to for so long that Komen actually has an explanation letter on their website. Ref. Source 6
Breast Cancer Awareness Month Ignores Pill's Link to Cancer
The fact that campaigns promoting Breast Cancer Awareness Month have largely ignored the connection between contraception and breast cancer is prompting one doctor to challenge other medical professionals to speak up about the pill's risk to women. Ref. Source 5
Komen Causing Breast Cancer by Funding Planned Parenthood
The head of a women's group that examines the link between abortion and breast cancer says Komen for the Cure is going against its own mission of stopping breast cancer by renewing funding for the Planned Parenthood abortion business.
As LifeNews reported, Komen for the Cure has officially buckled to pressure from Planned Parenthood and 17 affiliates of the national breast cancer charity will provide grants for the abortion business this calendar year.
Karen Malec, president of the Coalition on Abortion/Breast Cancer says Komen, which attempted earlier this year to withdraw from its long-standing relationship with Planned Parenthood but recently renewed it, is causing women to contract breast cancer by funding the abortion agency. Ref. Source 3
