There is a big stir on social media and the local police about a recent photo showing a police woman (WPC) in a compromising position. There is also a renewed interest in having the new act implemented to stop the sharing of people's personal photos, cyberbullying, etc.

Title: Search for top cops
Comments: I hope officials here are not wasting time and money in the search for a new commissioner and deputy commissioner of police. Selecting a local policemen to fill these positions is not going to work .We just don't breed or have this calibre of persons on this island. We need outsiders to take hold of the leadership of our police force. We need men of morals, honesty and the ability to project respect and protect our citizens. Most of all we need top men with the experience and ability to catch our roaming killers and bring them to justice.

Title: OUTSIDE POLICE ASSISTANCE NEEDED
Comments: Officials of the PSC are about to allow the police to continue along the same road that leads to the constant stream of criminality .and unsolved crimes in this nation. They are trying to find local citizens who they believe are qualified and experienced to replace the Commissioner of police and his deputy. Things have been allowed to go too far here, within the police system to rely on any local candidate to fill these position that would bring about the change that is urgently required. The present police network has become a law unto themselves and do more or less as they pleases with little correct political guidance. Any selected local candidates despite their qualifications, experience and goodwill will not be able to change the embedded pattern, procedures or mentality of many of those in the hierarchy of our police system and will sooner or later succumb to doing as they are told in order to maintain their positions. The will not be allowed to introduce any new ideas that would remove the Mr bigs especially those wearing the masks of respectability that are behind the generation of many serious crimes here. Things will just continue as the are at present. The whole police system is in need of reform and we need suitable contracted commissioner of police and a deputy, whether black or white from outside sources who are allowed to managed the police system without interference or bias. The PSC is wasting their time and public money in their attempt to find suitable experienced local candidates who will be able to bring about the necessary changes within the present non productive police system, which is constantly losing respect and public support.

Title: The police do not need tasers
Comments: The police here do not need tasers. Body cameras, helicopters and all the guns an ammunition they have in their possession. All that is needed is the restoration of the death penalty, more honest and patriotic policemen with the aim of carrying out their duties in a respectful manner. We also need the enforcement of laws and order accompanied with severe penalties for the other aspects of lawlessness including corruption by those at the high level of our society. This should be fairly easy in a small country like T&T where most the population are law abiding and can be controlled by law and order. It would now appear that our police have adapted to a habit of spending public money unnecessarily and keep making excuses by suggesting they need all these modern gadgets to enforce law and order. These modern gadgets will make absolutely no difference here to policing. What we also need here is police men with the ability to form relationships with leaders of local communities and earn respect and public cooperation and the modern techniques of detection. The politicians and the judiciary must also play their role in supporting the police but always readily bow to their demands and ensure that the police are not being used by the rich and upper lasses at the expense of one race of our ordinary citizens .

Title: Local rogue policemen
Comments: The two young policemen now in custody and facing charges for criminal activities are only the thin edge of the wedge. Others are not yet being caught. We have now become a haven for criminals in which crime pays and we could now expect more young police officers jumping on the bandwago which has now become a regular habit,as being reported in the last few years. Those senior officials of TTPS and other senior officers of the police hierarchy have set bad examples by allegedly dabbling in corruption and other law breaking activities and are now tarnished with the brush of criminality This has caused lost of the trust and respect of especially our ordinary citizens, who have now refuse to assist the local police in fighting local crime.

Title: Dealing with local crime
Comments: Politicians saying that they are declaring all-out war on criminals here is not something new here.We have heard it for over five decades and look at the state of the nation where the crime scene is concerned. We are getting nowhere despite the amount of money spent on the police and national security. The police at present are loaded with manpower yet they are failing to make any headway in their effort against crime. This is mainly due to the failure of the justice system to deal with all criminals despite color, class or creed in the same manner. They still hold a colonial attitude towards crime and the upper classes. I suppose the next move from the police is to demand more money either to boost their equipment arsenal or again increase their manpower which will make no difference whatsoever. The police hierarchy here continue to annually milk the Treasury of its funds and are showing very little in return where the protection and security of the ordinary citizens are concerned. The criminals are now outnumbering and outsmarting the police to an extent where the police are unable to cope. This not really due to a lack of police manpower. It is mainly due to the lack of patriotism.effeciiency and failure in the detection of crime, and to some extent to the caliber and greed of some policemen. Many policemen here are now realizing that crime pays handsomely here and if the price is right are willing to jump on the criminal bandwagon. The annual rate of all crime especially murder is going to be more or less at the same rate it was last year. No one in their right mind could honestly say that is an improvement or sign of progress.there is no doubt that we will again hear the same old cry from our politicians of how they are declaring all-out war on criminals.
Did you all hear the news about the police officer that was caught trying to sell police bullet proof vests and holsters? Now we know how those bandits able to imitate police officers. The core rotten. They need to remove all these bad mangoes from the police service before they rotten the rest.
