Really, I do not like the game you call, 'Golf', it seems so 'slow'. Its not as fun as watching football or hockey but I guess everyone has something to fit their groove?

Golf is so boring all on its own let alone to play on a monitor. I really do not know what the purpose of that is, no matter how good the graphics are... |
JB, I pitty you! --> Golf is an incredible game of skill. Have you ever played it? I must admit I am not much for watching it, although now that I play I can stand to watch it more than I could before. However, to play is awesome! It is so challenging. I don't care how good of an athlete you are, this game takes more than athletic ability.
One good round of golf and you would be hooked. In fact, I might go play a par 3 9 hole course this evening after my son gets home from work!

I would agree that golf is a game, but should not be confused as a sport. Some skill involved but a true sport incorporates the use of a defense.
I do not believe your definition of what a sport is, is a valid one. Many things that are recognized as a sport do not fit into that category. How about diving, swimming, gymnastics, hunting? I think your definition might be more in line with team sports but to say golf isn't a sport would be incorrect.
According to dictionary.com here are the first three entries they have for the word "sport."
1. Physical activity that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often engaged in competitively.
2. A particular form of this activity.
3. An activity involving physical exertion and skill that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often undertaken competitively.
This would definately mean golf is a sport.

It doesn't say rigorous physical activity. Have you ever golfed? If it a physical activity. You do have to swing the club.
The physical exertion requirement is definition #2. Definition #1 says physical activity. You may not have much respect for the game, but it is still a sport, nonetheless.
