Abortion Clinic in Alabama Closes for Good, Surrenders License
After a back and forth with the Alabama health department, a Birmingham abortion business has closed for good and surrendered its license to operate. The New Woman All Women (NWAW) abortion facility surrendered its license to the State Health Department Friday and ceased operations.

Alabama Court Rules Unborn Children Deserve Legal Protection
A ruling by the Alabama Supreme Court today makes the argument that unborn children deserve legal protection under the law.
The case involves the consolidation of two cases, which address the question of whether Alabama's law against chemical endangerment of children can be applied to unborn children who are exposed to illegal drugs in utero. Courts of appeal in Alabama upheld convictions of mothers who were charged under the chemical endangerment law, when their children tested positive for illegal drugs at birth. Source 2

Birmingham, Alabama Abortion-Free for Now as Planned Parenthood Closes
Birmingham, Alabama is abortion free for now, as the sole abortion clinic there, run by Planned Parenthood, has temporarily closed. If it stays closed this is the second closure of an abortion clinic in 2014.
Local pro-life activist Fr. Terry Gensemer of CEC For Life tells LifeNews that sidewalk counselors report that the facility does not appear to have performed abortions since before Christmas.
