Birmingham, Alabama Abortion Biz Will Close, Building Put Up for Sale
A large real estate sign as gone up outside the former New Woman All Women abortion clinic in Birmingham, Alabama, ending a two year struggle by owner Diane Derzis to keep the troubled abortion clinic open - often through deceptive and illegal means.
"Placing the abortion clinic property for sale or lease shows that Derzis has finally given up on her attempts to keep the New Woman All Women abortion clinic open. That means that pro-life groups that countered her every move have finally won," said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. "We pray that Derzis" embattled abortion clinic in Jackson, Mississippi will soon follow suit because it has been proven over and over that she isn't fit to operate a dog kennel, much less a clinic where abortion surgeries are done." Alabama Court Again Rules Unborn Children Deserve Legal Protection
Today, in an 8-1 decision authored by Justice Tom Parker, the Alabama Supreme Court held that the word "child" in Alabama's chemical-endangerment statute applies to the born and unborn in Ex parte Sarah Janie Hicks.

In that case, Liberty Counsel's amicus brief arguing that the protection of the unborn is in keeping with the protections afforded the born in various areas of the law. Ref. Source 4

According to an al.com report, these safety standards require a number of things, including making hallways at abortion clinics wide enough to accommodate patient gurneys. Ref. Source 8
Judge Overturns Alabama Pro-Life Admitting Privileges Law That Closed Abortion Clinics
Judge Myron Thompson issued a 172-page opinion this morning ruling that the Alabama law that requires abortionists to maintain local hospital privileges in unconstitutional.
Thompson said that the rule created an "undue burden" on women seeking abortions, because that law would force three out of five abortion facilities in that state to close because abortionists at those facilities are unqualified to receive hospital privileges. Ref. Source 7
