I'm really curious about it, and now you've goaded my curiosity button Is it actually called "the Rapture" in the scriptures so that I could search for it in my digital version?
I've read the first volume of the "Left Behind" series, but was not too impressed with the writing. The story concept is interesting, but it's not very well-developed as far as story-line and characters. And I don't have any background in my own studying to check the basics.
Anyway, I appreciate your comments on this subject.

No, it is NOT called "the Rapture" in scripture. That word is never used.
Start by using Google to find info on it. There are a lot of "pro" and "con" websites. After you have an overview of it, keeping in mind what you already know about end times events, then I can guide you to some more information.
What is controversial about the whole subject isn't the idea of a Rapture, but when it takes place in relation to the tribulations. I understand that this event, a little bit different than the common conception, will take place at the end of whatever tribulations occur, when Jesus arrives in glory.
I have read all (or at least all that I know about) of the Left Behind series. I enjoyed most, but in the middle books, it got a bit dragged out. Anyway, I believe christians that subscribe to the Rapture theory believe that they will be taken up to heaven before any of the tribulations occur.
I think the rapture is just how many refer to when the saints are caught up to meet the Savior at his return. I think that is how it will happen. However, many Christians don't see it that way. They believe before the second coming, the rapture will take place and they will be taken up to heaven. Much of this belief comes from the 24th chapter of Matthew. However, in my opinion, a close, careful reading of this chapter shows that much tribulation comes before the saints are taken up.
Even within fundamental christian organizations there is much disagreement over whether the rapture comes before or after the tribulations.
I think we are already experiencing the tribulations.
Well, this topic has been inactive for quite some time, I might try to revive it. I would like us to turn our heads a little and look at the events at the moment. Wars and Rumours of wars in Iraq, The Eagle destroying itself from the inside out (Bird Flu?) Natural disasters...
How close is the second coming>>> We will know the season but not the date... He will come like a thief in the night.
I would like to have some discussion on these modern days and the end times. I would also like to encourage everyone to seek Christ to the full, and be ready to answer the question "Why should I let you into Heaven", every morning you wake.
Wolf, with all the natural disasters we have been experiencing, one right after the other, all over the world, I have been wondering the same myself. I think the time is drawing near. Of course, His time and our time is not the same so "near" could still be quite a ways off from our perspective.
