Poet Joshua Clover and 11 Students May Face Prison Time and $1 Million in Damages for Shutdown of US Bank
The administration of UC Davis is holding poet and professor Joshua Clover and 11 students accountable for their alleged role in protests that led to the shutdown of a campus US Bank. "District Attorney Jeff Reisig is charging campus protesters with 20 counts each of obstructing movement in a public place, and one count of conspiracy. If convicted, the protesters could face up to 11 years each in prison, and $1 million in damages."

Due to some new laws that are being put out because of occupy wall street movement I think we will see a lot more of this. They were maced and arrested for protesting and could have their lives forever altered from this. Doesn't really seem like something that would happen in the land of the free does it?

Oh yeah I forgot to mention, there is some speculation that the school owes the bank money and that is why they are being so harsh. Meaning the school made some sort of deal behind closed doors with the bank for a harsher punishment.

Looking at this now I think the title should mention the poet and students being arrested or maced. I wonder if an administrator could re-title the post because it doesn't look very good as is.
