Mayan calendar goes way past 2012
Newly discovered wall writings found in Guatemala show the famed Maya culture's obsession with cycles of time. But they also show calendars that go well beyond 2012, the year when the vanished civilization, according to popular culture, expected the end of the world. Ref. Source 8
This new calendar dispells that whole load of cow stuff about the world ending in 2012. I don't know why people get so into these things. For centuries people have been saying the world was going to end and then the date comes and goes and we're still here!
I don't think a lot of people know there is a continuation. Everyone is riding on the end of the calendar scenario but it was probably just the end of THAT calendar and not all their calendars.
Pagan that is one way to look at it or just the fact that they did not have time to complete it or think it was necessary. Think about it, how many of us will be willing to have a calendar in our homes for the year 3012 AD?
