The oldest National Teams tournament in the World, the Copa America was created in 1916, when Argentina decided to organize a soccer tournament to celebrate the first centennial of its independence.

Paraguay 1 - Costa Rica 0

An 86th minute penalty was the decider in this evenly matched game. Both teams ranked #29 in the latest FIFA ranking; can't get any closer than that.

Brazil 4 - Costa Rica 1

Brazil has taken a commanding lead in Group C with 2 victories and a seemingly easy matchup with Paraguay on Tuesday. They looked very convincing in their win today and poised to make quite a run in the tournament.

Mexico seems to be the likely winner in my opinion, but you know, these days the more popular the team the less likely they are to win? spock.gif

Offtopic but,
Now this is something I do not understand about showing games live... here they show Euro Cup (which is miles away) live and the Copa America - which is just a 'stone throw' from here they only tell you the results. I have to think that it must be the language barrier.

America Copa

We will see if that holds true when Mexico plays Brazil tonight. Brazil coach has stated that the big guns will be out tonight; he is done with his experimenting with the younger players and wants only to reach the finals now. Therefore we can expect to see names like Ronaldo and Kaka in the lineup tonight. With that potent of a lineup, I think Brazil is still the favorite.

Offtopic but,
In the US we did not see any of the Euro games live, unless you count Pay-per-view as live. But with the Spanish stations, I have seen almost all the Copa America games live. I am watching Uruguay - Paraguay as we speak. Seems the tables are turned here.

I will JB, I will be more than happy to keep you guys up to date. Maybe if I was board moderator for the Football board, hint, hint wink.gif , I could do a better job. But seriously, I will do my best, even if it means updating my rave thread (which I have been doing at times). Currently, Paraguay is leading Uruguay 1-0 with 32 minutes in the first half expired. Good game so far.

With the updates you do not have to do it live - I mean just when you have time post a review, we get the score here, but you know - having someone say what the game was like as I did in the Euro board is where it is at wink.gif

Offtopic but,
Am I to note a bit of offtopic there? In reply to that you could also just upgrade your account to Premium wink.gif
