Yeah, I guess as a non-smoker (never smoke a single cigarette in my life) I dont know the nuances and tricks of the trade as you were able to share with us AGene (thanks!). All I do know is that I hate smoking, and I hate what it does to people, and I hate being around it. Therefore, I am for any and all laws, campaigns, etc that will curb or put at end to this evil vice. I lost too many people in my family because of it, and will do my best to protect my immediate family from falling into its grasp, if I can.

I am against smoking, but as Farseer said, I think it's absurd to advertise against your own products. I don't think it will help, either. I don't think any cigarette smoker does not know how dangerous it is. They either do it because they think it's cool or in, they're addicted, or they just don't care about the long-term danger.
I have to disagree with you guys and say that it's not a bad idea to put those pictures on the pack. OK, maybe it has not a very big effect on the smokers, but I'm quite sure it WILL discourage - to a certain extent - a non-smoking teenager to start smoking. Of course banning it would be a much bigger achievement, but till then this a step.
I think it's a great idea to put the anti-smoking ads on cigarette boxes. It'll make them think twice of what they are doing to themselves and others but others are to selfish to even care what happens to others and would still buy them.
