Teens/Kids often disagree as to how much a parent who owns the computer should see of their kids's folders. There have been some pretty loud reactions to the rules parents put on them.
Should kids be allowed to have private folders that parents can't check? Some Parents have good reason to put these rules on their computer use such as viruses and finding porn in their files.
@ my house we don't even have private folders because we think everyone should have to abide by the same rules.
Should teens be able to chat with their friends until the wee hours of the morning? If a teen has done something to compromise security or downloads porn for their own viewing, does a parent have the right to stand behind them and watch them so they don't do stupid stuff?
Does a parent have the right to go through their files and delete the bad stuff without telling the teen?.
To Parents : What would you do if your teen had the attitude that he/she could do what they want and the parent can kiss their ... you know?
I could care less if my parents looked into my folder. I have my own separate folder called Thomas, its got all my music, all my games, all my pictures and stuff. If my parents want to look at it, sure. Theres nothing bad in there. There is some music they probably wouldn't like, but whatever. My dad disaproves of chat rooms, i use msn though. My mom even uses msn so i don't think she would care.

Heh, sure do LDS. I'd say the only problem about seriosuly talking to a kid with an attitude problem would be getting them to talk. lol. And once your done talking to em they will probable get even more of an attitude just in spite. About the Limited time on the net, i disagree. My Aunt does that with her little kids. She limites them to about an hour a day on the computer, isn't that a little harsh? They will grow out of toys sometime, and if its not playing computer what is it? TV?

Her kids are fairly young, they are 8, 6, 4 and 1.  The 8 and 6 year old are the only one that use the computer.  I just think that they should be able to go on more than 1 hour.  They will get bored and eventually go do some activities, those kids are athletic and they will develope attitudes if their parents  have too many rules.  I've seen that if ya push a kid too hard to or enforce something too hard they i will learn to rebel and things won't go as ya planned.

I know., i just think that they shouldn't be just limited toa short time of usage. If a person wants to get by now a days they need to know how to use a computer. Just think of when they are older, if they don't know how to use a computer they are toast. Anyways, i just think a little more time for them would be better. Just my opinion.
