Are you for or against the offside rule where if the player does not have the ball or opponent ahead of him then he is considered 'off the side' and must surrender the ball. Many games have become very controversial because of this rule.
Football: The Offside Rule (Hover)
Alright, my kind of topic here I am completely for the offside rule. It prevents what is referred to as 'loafing' around the box, and forces offenses to not rely on the long ball when attacking. It can be controversial, yes, but without it, defenses will not have a prayer, and teams that have speed and that can pass the ball a long way up the field will be at an advantage every time. The offside rule may be tweaked in years to come, but I can't see it ever being banished from the game. Good topic JB!
That would be way too difficult to enforce with the naked eye. It is bad enough as it is where refs have to make the split decision call, much less having to worry about whether they were 5 or 6 yards offside.

why not bring in the cameras as they do in cricket to make a decision |

maybe a time system like they do in basketball where if the player is in the penalty are for more than 'x' time then... |

takes away from the purity of the game. |

Call me pessimistic, but I honestly believe the offside rule is at its maximum |

Wow, I feel like a politician who is having his words thrown back at him. What I meant to say is that FIFA may try to change the offside rule in ways similar to what you have mentioned. Am I for these changes? No, I am not. Will the changes probably happen? Probably, which is why I made that statement. And if you read my statement, it states 'may' which leaves the door open a bit, but not all the way.
