Comments: OK so this might be the dumbest question ever but what is the difference from getting a theme off the SMF theme site and a custom SMF theme?

Not a dumb question at all. I will quote from our SMF Custom Theme FAQ page:

Basically when you get a Theme off the SMF Theme site you have take what you get and they will probably have their ownership reserved on the Theme which limits what you can do with it or how you alter it. Custom Themes are done to your specifications. See some of our SMF Custom Themes we did in the past for clients.
