FBI In Trinidad

The Minister of National Security and the Police Commissioner claimed ignorance about the new establishment of a sub office of the FBI in Trinidad to help hunt down an Alqueda suspect that they claim has lived in Trinidad and is attempting to enter the US using a Trinidad passport. The television news carried the 'event' as though they were taking over security in Trinidad - do you see this as a big deal?

But is this real or just an assumption?. If its true, I am not in agreement at all. Trinidad is not my country but I don't think the FBI should have any place here. If they want to hunt someone, they can work together with the local police and intelligence service WITHOUT having their own office here. Just my two cents.

The image of a burning BWIA passenger aircraft was posted by a website with Al Qaeda links to celebrate the terrorist bombings of two Russian planes that killed 135 people last month.

I can see how West Indians would be rattled to see one of their local planes featured on an Al-Qaeda training simulation. However, as the article pointed out, this could have simply been used as an example, not as a direct threat to that particular airline. Plus, the plane featured was an old model that is not used anymore. In any case, this is still not want air travelers want to see, regardless of the airline they fly on.

It seems that the Minister of National Security, Jack Warner, is planning to employ the services of the USA to fight the drugs and arms trade and has already met with the US ambassador officially over the matter.

I don't get it. Why do we need all these foreigners coming down here? Isn't enough with Gibbs? Since when a whole bunch of white men know more about the country than we do?
