Comments: I have searched for quite a while using different techniques and pages -
Is it possible to upgrade my 1.1.16 to a 2.0?

The cool mods like music player & photo gallery are on the 2.0 version, it seems, from what I've found.

Would I use the FULL UPGRADE to 2.0 & work up to 2.02, as if I didn't have anything,
since there isn't a patch going from 1.1.16 to 2.0?

SMF SMF Upgrade

Yes, you will use the full upgrade and have to install via FTP because it cannot be done via Admin like how patches in the same version are installed.

Do note that any existing Mods or Themes you have in your SMF 1.1.16 will fail to function after the upgrade and will have to be reinstalled after.

I have followed all the directions from both SMF and my site iPage. Between if you have SMF, don't go to iPage - they tell you they 'support' it, but no one there has a clue about it and cannot help you at all with anything related to it.

I downloaded Full Upgrade to 2.0, I finally managed to extract files and get them uploaded with FTP and File Manager, after much effort I changed permissions on files that needed to be 'writeable'

Now instructions say to run "Upgrade Tool" - can't find out what that is....

My server is unfamiliar with SMF and say they have no idea what "Upgrade Tool" SMF is talking about. I cannot find any more information about it. I posted somewhere on SMF but haven't heard anyone give advice.

So, after about 6 hrs solid work (we're talking someone who didn't know how to extract or unzip or anything else) I'm still 1.1.16

Exhausted, frustrated, don't know what else to do.

Go to that address in your browser. From there you will get instructions what to do.
