Elder Neal A. Maxwell, a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, died last night after
a lengthy battle with leukemia. He was 78 years of age. Elder Maxwell
died at home surrounded by his family at 11:45 p.m. Wednesday night.
It was the 23rd anniversary of his call to the Quorum of Twelve Apostles.
Funeral arrangements are pending.
Yes, they actually thought he would have passed away before, but the Lord kept him - isn't it interesting that He (the Lord) chose to take him on the day of his 23rd year.
Offtopic but, Gaucho - are you getting my Emails? |

With his empty chair on the Tabernacle dais a stark reminder that death
doesn't discriminate, Elder Neal A. Maxwell was eulogized Tuesday on
Temple Square by the men who knew him best: top leaders of The Church
of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and his son, Cory. In his remarks,
President Hinckley said: "I know of no other man who spoke in such an
interesting and distinct manner. . . . Each talk was a masterpiece, each
book was a work of art. I think we shall not see one like him again."
